Vermont Catholic Magazine Sept. Issue

This September issue is the first of Vermont Catholic magazine’s new distribution system. All who have donated $24 or more to the 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal should have received a copy of the magazine delivered to their home address the first weekend of September. Additional copies are available in the back of St. Paul’s in Barton, St. Theresa’s in Orleans, and St. John Vianney in Irasburg to be shared with family and friends.  Trinity Parish no longer takes up a quarterly collection for donations to the Vermont Catholic Magazine. This is considered another part of the new parish collection for Evangelization and Catechesis. However, those who benefit from the free issues in the church can always make a donation. Suggested is $5 per issue.

Action for Ecological Justice: Celebrating a Year of Creation

At the beginning of 2017 Bishop Coyne invited the Catholic Church of Vermont to observe and celebrate a Year of Creation, an intentional, heightened focus on implementation of Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home which highlights the urgency of the global climate crisis (Click here to read the encyclical). On Sunday, September 30th, from 10am to 5pm, the Diocese of Burlington will hold one of the main events of the Year of Creation, a day-long conference at Saint Michael’s College. The intent is to bring together people from across the state and region to discuss the care that we must have for God’s creation. The keynote address will be by Dr. Carolyn Woo, former CEO of Catholic Relief Services. Dr. Woo will share her firsthand experiences of the effect of environmental degradation on developing communities. For more information click here for the VermontCatholic.org information page

Volunteer for St. Paul’s School at the Barton Fair!

The Barton Fair has offered a stipend to Saint Paul’s Catholic School in exchange for volunteer help directing cars in the parking lot at the Orleans County Fair in Barton:

Wednesday, August 16 through Sunday August 20
8:00AM to 9:30PM

We need help!  Would you consider donating your time to help St. Paul’s School? A shift is about 4 and 1/2 hours long and every shift covered donates $50 to the school!

If your family does three or more shifts we will offer you a gate admission bracelet as a thank you.

Please contact Principal Joanne Beloin at jbeloin@stpaulscatholicschool.org with your name, phone number, and times you are available.

Thank you for any help you are able to give!
